Hot dog in a bun weld

A video of myself practicing the “hot-dog-in-a-bun” blade construction technique where you insert a piece of high carbon steel (hot dog) into a jacket of low carbon steel (the bun) then forge it into a blade. It is a common practice among Japanese knifemakers and tool makers, a similar technique is used for axes.

Tool envy. I want a power hammer so bad. I have a lot of projects that I refuse to start because I don’t want to hand hammer them.

next time try doing a voice over after you film it,,, really hard on the ears to try and hear over the hammer and forge.
