How to Start my Fantasy Story?
Hey everyone. I need help starting my fantasy story. I want to include knights, wizards, mythical creatures, etc. but don’t know how to start it. I want to try to start it out like a young boy, around 16, who works for a blacksmith, but I don’t know how to start writing it. If you need more information about it, I’ll be happy to include more info. Thanks everyone.

Ask yourself questions. Make notes. Build yourself an outline, even a basic one.
My outlines tend to take up to three months to write, but you don’t have to go that deep. I do because I want to publish them, and I need to know that the story will fit together when I write it.
So just a basic outline. Who is it about? What happens to him? Why? Then what? and go from there. Then, find a good place to start that has a hook and no cliches, and start writing.
(you can change the boy’s name teehee)
Chapter 1:
“Justin, how many sales did we make?” Justin’s manager, Jerry, asked, walking into the shop, hanging up his black jacket. Justin put up his materials and hung his dirty apron on a shelf closest to him.
Justin was.a.16.year old blacksmith, desperate for a job that pays more. His mother stays home taking care of his ill little sister, who has the plague. Justin’s father has disapeared and the police.have yet to find him.
“not good,” Justin said, “we only made 153 dollers.”
Jerry sat down on a large brick, takes ofg his hat, and sighs.
“we’re so broke, I don’t even know what to do.”
Its an idea
That sounds a lot like Orson Scott Card’s Alvin Maker series. Orson has a writing class online.
